  • Course Title: Incarnational Leadership: Leading Like Jesus

Program: Ember Discipleship College - Fall Experience

    Format: Saturday Immersive Learning Experience

    Instructor: Lauren Weholt, M.A.
Degree: Master of Arts in Strategic Leadership
    Institution: Life Pacific University

    Course Overview:

At Ember Discipleship College, we believe that true leadership isn’t about titles or authority—it’s about becoming the living, breathing embodiment of Christ wherever you go. In Incarnational Leadership: Leading Like Jesus, you will learn that leadership is not something you do but something you are. Just as Jesus stepped into the world and walked alongside people, we are called to lead by walking with others, being fully present, listening deeply, and leading through love and humility.

The Incarnation—the mystery of Jesus becoming human—is our model. Jesus didn’t lead from a distance; He led by dwelling among us, eating at our tables, sitting in our homes, and walking our streets. This is what it means to lead like Him—by entering into the everyday, ordinary places of life with presence, vulnerability, and compassion.

We’ll also explore the power of third places—those sacred spaces outside the walls of the church where people gather naturally. Whether it’s a coffee shop, a park bench, or a neighborhood hangout, these places are where incarnational leaders bring the presence of Christ into the world, meeting people where they are and transforming the ordinary into the sacred.

In this immersive experience, we’ll dive deep into the art of relational leadership, rooted not in control or authority, but in listening, storytelling, and showing up in the places that matter most. Together, we will practice leading like Jesus—not from a distance, but up close, through vulnerability, humility, and genuine connection.

At Ember Discipleship College, we don’t just equip you for leadership; we invite you to become the kind of leader the world needs joining Jesus outside the classroom.

  • Course Title: Narrative Theology: Living and Telling the Story

Program: Ember Discipleship College - Winter Experience

    Format: Saturday Immersive Learning Experience

    Instructor: Dr. Andrew Fox, Ph.D.
Degree: Doctor of Philosophy in Intercultural Studies
Specializations: Multidisciplinary Theology, History, Liturgy, and Culture
Institution: Assemblies of God Theological Seminary

    Course Overview:

At Ember Discipleship College, we believe that the greatest story ever told isn’t just ink on a page—it’s alive in each one of us. In Narrative Theology: Living and Telling the Story, you’ll discover how to live inside the unfolding drama of God’s redemptive work and learn to help others find their place in that story. The Bible isn’t a disconnected collection of teachings—it’s a grand, sweeping narrative where God’s story meets your story.

This course invites you to understand ministry as living out and telling God’s story in the world. Whether you’re speaking from the pulpit, sharing in a small group, or engaging in everyday conversations, you’ll learn how to communicate the gospel as a narrative that resonates with people’s lives. The power of storytelling transforms not only how we teach the Bible but how we see ourselves as characters in God’s unfolding story.

Through interactive workshops, you’ll learn how to craft and share stories that connect with the heart. You’ll explore how your own life weaves into God’s grand narrative and how to help others discover and tell their part in that story. Ministry is more than conveying information—it’s telling the living, breathing story of God’s work in the world.

  • Course Title: Missional Living: Joining God in His Work

Program: Ember Discipleship College - Spring Experience

    Format: Saturday Immersive Learning Experience

    Instructor: Shannon Kapp, M.A.
Degree: Master of Arts in Theological Studies
    Institution: Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary

    Course Overview:

At Ember Discipleship College, we believe that the world is not just a place where you live—it’s your mission field. You weren’t made to just watch the story of God’s work in the world—you were made to live it, to join it. Welcome to Missional Living: Joining God in His Work, where you will discover that every footstep you take, every conversation you have, every ordinary moment is an opportunity to participate in the grand Missio Dei—the mission of God.

Here at Ember Discipleship College, we don’t believe in dividing life into sacred and secular spaces. The whole world is sacred ground. You’ll learn that ministry isn’t confined to a Sunday morning pulpit but pulses through the very heartbeat of your daily life. As you step into this immersive experience, you’ll see how every coffee shop, every sidewalk, and every dinner table is a mission field where God is already at work, and you’re invited to join.

This is not a class about how to do mission, but how to become missional, where the story of your life and the story of God’s work in the world collide and intertwine. We will teach you to create missional communities—spaces where justice, relationships, and service come together—where the gospel is lived out in full color. Let’s go on a journey where missional living becomes second nature, as natural as breathing.
